North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences

In April 2012 the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences opened the spectacular Nature Research Center (NRC), a 80,000 square foot wing next to the existing Museum. Tenji collaborated with the Museum’s design team, and installed a dozen living exhibits from turtles, snakes, zebra danios, to freshwater mussels. One display features detritivores consuming decomposing creatures, so that visitors can learn about the life cycle of the forest floor. Tenji worked with staff, designers and exhibit fabricators to build custom enclosures to accommodate the animals, and also fabricated the exhibits with keeper access and serviceability in mind.
