Platinum LEED-Certified Project in Upstate New York
The Nicandri Nature Center in Massena, New York, choose Tenji to design/build their new nature center’s aquatic exhibits. Showcasing the aquatic animals found in Upstate New York, we designed the systems to be energy efficient by using a geothermal system for all the cooling needs for the aquariums. Tenji was proud to be a part of this Platinum LEED-certified project.
We designed and built two exhibits for the nature center, as well as a quarantine space in their back of house. The robust filtration system that Tenji built is no match for the waste loads of the four turtles that live in the main display tank. The engaging design draws visitors in, and interaction with the exhibits and docents at the Nature Center is up nearly 200% according to staff reports. Lifelike rockwork and themed trees complete the immersive visual provided by the large, curved front of the centerpiece tank.
